Who's familiar with The Wiggles then?! Those 'zany' Aussies are TOP DOLLAR in our house, I tell you! For those who have no idea what I'm on about, The Wiggles are a group of four Australian children's entertainers who sing, dance and generally entertain, kind of Justin Fletcher x 4. They "Toot Toot Chugga Chugga" around in their big red car, and generally have a great time.
Well .... we can finally toot toot chugga chugga-ing in our little red car again. Yep, Dmitri (red car + KGB number plate = Russian name in my book) is back on the road!!! And I cannot even begin to tell you how happy that makes me!
My dear little battered Fiesta had been off the road since the end of August when we pretty much ran out of cash and couldn't afford to tax/insure/MOT the poor chap. All these months with no driving has been really hard work, especially when it has required some major feats of organisation to get everybody ready and out of the house to walk miles to classes, toddler groups, appointments etc. Nightmare!
The strangest part is that I [whisper it] only learnt to drive at the ripe old age of 37!! Before that I lived overseas or in cities mainly, so never really needed to drive, and managed perfectly well without a car. But, oh boy, did I quickly get reliant on driving. And, more surprisingly, I love it!
I'm very pleased to say that I'm one of those people who will drive anywhere. Other end of the country? No problem. Central London? No problem. Neighbourhood I've never been to before? No problem. France? No problem.
I know way too many people, I'm very sorry to say invariably women, who stress about driving somewhere they don't know, in big cities, or on the other side of the road. I even used to know someone who would drive miles and miles out of her way just so she didn't have to turn right! Ridiculous.
I really missed driving and the convenience and freedom it gave me, so was absolutely thrilled when we finally got enough money together last week to sort out the car insurance and tax, and then the biggest surprise of all, Dimi passed his MOT with flying colours.
So we're all systems go, toot toot chugga chugga here we come!!!!
And don't forget to enter our competitions!
