As our lives have changed, we have rolled with it and, although other friends have fallen by the wayside, I can't imagine a time when we won't pick up the phone or knock on a door, and spend a few hours wittering on about this, that and the other.
One of our new joys is that my elder daughter and her younger son are of a very similar age, only a few months apart, and get on like a house on fire! The first time they really connected was just before Christmas, when they spent a not inconsiderable time standing at our balcony windows together car and bus-spotting (there's a road between us and the sea).
Since then, Lara has asked on an almost daily basis when she will see Connor again, and we have tried to accomodate as many meetings as we can. A few weeks ago we went up to London for the day to see them, so here are some pics of Lara hanging out with her new BFF aand his older brother, Lewis, in their garden - enjoy!
Sand requires the utmost concentration, and an assistant...
Whereas water is a more solitary pursuit, until they had the idea of putting those balls in that watering can, that is...
And then it was time for Lara's favourite activity - the swing!
Five year old Lewis borrowed my camera and worked on his photography skills during the afternoon, quite an improvement from his first face shots of Lara, to his later ones of Lara and Connor, I think.
And then all three helped with dinner prep and cooking, although I think more went in them than in the pan!
A good time had by all!
