Review: Cloudbabies Toys

I told you yesterday about the fantastic event we went to at The Entertainer and how delighted Lara was to finally see the Cloudbabies house in the flesh, as it were.

Well the lovely marketing lady from Vivid offered to send Lara the Cloudbabies figures, and they duly arrived a couple of days later. This is Lara's delighted reaction to the arrival of her new best friends:

These little figures are slightly soft plastic and really nicely made. They are perfect toddler hand size and have been played with in all sorts of situations, been put in the dolls house beds, carried in her 'handbag' and pocket, climbed, danced and jumped on the trampoline, everything.

They have hardly left Lara's hands since they arrived, and she absolutely adores them. They go to bed every night, being tucked carefully in before Lara gets in to bed, and as you read this they are exploring the delights of Lancashire and the Lakes with us.

We also have a talking Baba Pink, whose tummy you press to hear phrases, and who is also much-loved and earmarked for holiday travel. I must admit I was a little disappointed with the talking babas, and the 'cuddly' ones, because they all have plastic heads.

I think it would have been nice if they had been made all soft, like the Waybuloo toys, including the talking ones, but that's just my take on them - Lara loves them all the same, and is currently also coveting a talking Baba Blue (he's her favourite).

The little figures Lara has can of course be played with on their own, and in many ways, as Lara is doing, but you can also buy a Cloudbabies house, which I showed Lara playing with yesterday.

The house has three parts which can be played with stacked up (they have an open side), or separately. The house play set comes with some furniture, a Bobo figure, and a SkyDonk flying from the roof. Again, great play value and very well made. Here's a video from Vivid to show you more:

I really like the colours and the graphics in the Cloudbabies animation, and think the stories are absolutely delightful and quite magical for little ones. Lara loves to look up at the sky, or even the ceiling indoors and talk to us about what the Cloudbabies are doing. She is also learning about the clouds and the sky above us, by exploring ideas such as the water cycle as a direct result of the programme. As a parent (and ex primary teacher) I think that's fantastic, and know that she will also be able to play with the Cloudbabies figures imaginativelyfor a long time to come. So we're both happy!

All CloudBabies toys are also available online at The Entertainer and Toys R Us.

  6. These look like cute toys. The soft plastic heads, I think might actually be quite practical. As easily and quickly wiped clean and kept dry. Whereas soft fabric takes some time to dry out after washing. So the body is soft and cuddly.Whilst the face can be spoken to and kissed as children do. Kiss the baby or dolly "Goodnight". So it is hygienic to be able to quickly clean and dry the dolls face.

  10. I'm a 30 yr old woman. Is it weird if I think the cloudbabies are adorable and want the toys? Haha, I already have Baba Pink. I want the others.
