Review: Jingle Puzzle

We were recently sent a 'The Wheels On The Bus' Jingle Puzzle by Music Room to review.  Lara is just startign to get into jigsaw puzzles, although she finds them a bit tricky and isn't always as willing as she might be to accept help!  But she loves the song 'The Wheels On the Bus', and I thought this was a great way to begin introducing her to the ide of written music and notes.

The jigsaw set consists of a large floor jigsaw puzzle (1000mm x 200mm); a sing-along CD with 'The Wheels On The Bus' and eight other action songs plus a bonus story "The Ostrich and the Hedgehog Race"; some sticker sheets; and a sing-along song sheet with a picture of the jigsaw and some ideas for activities.

The jigsaw pieces are big and easy for little hands to put together, and Lara enjoyed talking about the people pictured on the bus, and the scenes going on around it.  We sang along to the song and she asked about the funny signs (musical notes) on the jigsaw.  This will be great for opening up further discussion about written music in the future.

At the moment Lara's favourite part of the pack though is the sing-along CD, as she has started learning the words to lots of nursery rhymes and simple songs.  I haven't let her at the stickers yet, but I'm sure they'll be great fun too!  And we will be tackling the other activities and colouring in the picture when Lara is a bit older too.

The Jingle Puzzles range also features similar packs for 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm', 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' and 'Five Little Speckled Frogs'.  They are really well thought out, and would make a lovely Christmas gift.
