Review: Baby Bjorn Miracle

My second baby carrier review for International Babywearing Week is the new Baby Bjorn Miracle.  Steve is as much a fan of babywearing as I am, perhaps even more so, and used an Original Baby Bjorn with Lara for quite sometime as she was so slight.  He was therefore very keen to claim the Miracle as his own when it arrived, and I didn't get that much of a look in!  So this is a bit of a collaborative review!

What they say...

  • An ergonomic wonder - waist belt and back support
  • Ergonomic waist belt and flexible carrying provide superior comfort
  • Back and shoulder relief
  • The waist belt can transfer the weight of your baby to your hips to relieve your back and shoulders.
  • Unbeatable ergonomics
  • The adjustable design makes this baby carrier an ergonomic miracle.
  • The most comfortable for the baby
  • Extra soft fabric and no seams that can chafe your baby’s sensitive skin.
  • Essential closeness right from day one

The entirely new and unique design with a generously padded adjustable waist belt, comfortable back support and wide shoulder straps allow flexible carrying in a variety of ways. Easy adjustments, made from the front, transfer baby’s weight between your waist, hips and shoulders as needed. The baby carrier is easily adjusted for that perfect fit.

The BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Miracle ergonomics are optimal, allowing you to easily adjust your baby's weight between your shoulders, waist and hips. Not only is the Miracle completely comfortable for you, but the unique adjustment of the Miracle means that the carrier grows with your baby to provide maximum support and comfort for their development from newborn right up to 15 months.

Because your baby has sensitive skin, great care has been taken to ensure that all fabric seams are placed on the outside so as not to chafe against small arms and legs. The head support band is generously padded so it is soft on your baby’s cheeks. All fabrics have been developed to be especially soft as well as being guaranteed free from harmful substances (complying with Oeko-Tex requirements).

What we say...

Ease of use:

No problems at all.  Really easy to put on, easy to adjust, and clear instructions.  baby is carried really high up, in a great position, and the double back strap ensures no slippage, unlike our perhaps over-used Original Baby Bjorn.  The tape measure feature is very effective in getting the carrier into exactly the right position for baby.

Comfort for parent:

The back support is excellent, really supportive and comfortbale, but the shoulder straps could still be a little wider.  After a long country walk, Steve found his shoulder ached and he was relieved to take Sophia off.  I didn't wear the carrier for as long or as far, so didn't find this a problem.  I think taking a bit more time to try out the different adjustments that could be made may put paid to this though.

Comfort for baby:

Sophia is very comfy in the Baby Bjorn Miracle, and likes being high up and close to us.  She prefers to be facing inwards still if she is feeling fractious or wants to sleep, but is quite happy in either position.  the fabric is lovely and soft on her skin and the whole carrier offers her excellent support.  I know there is some concern still about 'crotch dangler' carriers, but both our girls have been happy in them, and I think as long as parents are sensible and respond to baby's needs and likes/dislikes, they are fine.

Sophia is 9 months old now, so more than happy facing out a lot of the time as she wants to see what's going on, but I'm not sure I would have put her facing outwards from the recommended 4 months.  She also prefers facing inwards for sleeping because the top part of the carrier comes up nicely as a support and shield.  In fact she gets quite cross if you dare peek in at her!

Here are some of Sophia in situ from our recent holiday - there's a comfy, happy baby!

Suitable from newborn (minimum 8lb) up to 26lb, height adjustable, ergonomically designed, and machine washable, this is a very good structured carrier, comfortable for both parent and baby.

You can find lots more information, including videos, on the Baby Bjorn website

The BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Miracle is widely available, and retails at RRP £114.99.

  1. i have never been sure if baby carriers are a good idea as i would be afraid of falling with the baby in front of me but your review is very interesting and i think i will now consider buying one :)

  2. 20 years ago I was the only one of my friends and family who used or even had a baby carrier. My poor babe had terrible colic (prob more like reflux but no one suggested it) He was miserable and I was miserable trying to comfort him. In the end I wore my carrier anywhere and everywhere and he was more settled and I could do the housework, play with my toddler, volunteer at the local scool. It was a win win solution for me and I love the fact that more people are doing baby wearing too now.

  3. Lovely review! i'm pregnant with twins and wasn't sure if they will be comfy as they looks. now I can have look for deals, they will make my life so much easier x
