Review: Little Bird at Mothercare

I am quite unashamedly very girly in some ways, and having two beautiful little girls to dress is my idea of heaven!  Kind of dollies for grown-ups, I guess.  So asking us if we'd like to review the new Little Bird Clothing range at Mothercare received a rather prompt yes please!

Designed by Jools Oliver, wife of Jamie and mother of four (3 girls), "...Little Bird has been developed to reflect the unique and modern approach to motherhood that Jools enjoys with her wonderful family. From gorgeous newborn baby clothes to stylish and fun boys and girls clothes, this exciting clothing range is easily mixed and matched, the Little Bird range really is great value for money."

Inspired by Jools' own childhood memories of growing up in the Seventies, this boutique collection is not about short-lived trends, but an eclectic mix of iconic, timeless pieces, that every child between six months to five years will want to wear.  Designed to mix and match, durable and washable time after time, these are the kind of clothes only a parent could create!

I absolutely adore the Little Bird tags, with their rainbow ribbon, and was slightly tempted to leave them attached to the girls clothes as they are so cute!  The labels are indicative of the fabulous attention to detail on the whole range, with beautiful fabrics, buttons and trims used throughout.  Here's an overview of the whole range:

My favourite of the pieces we were sent, is this cute t-shirt and leggings outfit, which Sophia is sporting.  the leggings are more like yoga pants, with turnover waistband, and made of the softest, snuggliest jersey.  Just gorgeous!  These leggings are such a great wardrobe staple, I think we may well be investing in more.

My other favourite item for Sophia is the fawn print babygrow, you can read more about the inspiration behind the fawn motif below.  It's such a beautiful print, and again the detailing is just wonderful, with soft fabric and soft seams.

I haven't managed to persuade Lara to model for me yet, but hopefully soon!  She has these lovely goodies to try on, amongst others.  Look out for the model shots coming soon!

The eagerly anticipated Little Bird Collection certainly lives up to expectations, with beautifully made clothes in fun patterns and colours, whcih look stylish as well as being hardwearing and washable time after time.  We love them!

Mothercare at Christmas

Jools Oliver's exclusive children's fashion and nursery range at Mothercare features a unique mix of vintage style, high quality, affordable pieces with a timeless look and feel that reflects Jools’ love of nostalgic yet modern collectables for children from birth to 5 years – the perfect gift for any child this Christmas.

Here's what Jools says about her inspiration for the range:

"It all began with a nightie embroidered with a little fawn, worn first by my sisters, then by me and more recently by all of my four children. It has been washed too many times to count, but still looks just as good as it did on its first outing. It's no surprise that it came from Mothercare - the store has always been a much-loved family favourite."

From that inspiration come some of the key pieces in the collection, perfect gifts for Christmas.

Fawn bean bag toy, £12

Mini suitcase gift with hat, booties and rattle, £25

Fawn money box, £12

Beautiful patchwork quilt, £54.99

Fawn cuddle'n'dry towel, £14.99
Fawn flannel bundler, just like the nightie which started it all for Jools, £12

You can find all these items and more, plus shop online, in the Little Bird section of the Mothercare website.  Do make sure you browse the boys and girls clothes too, there are so many lovely pieces in the Little Bird collection.
