Pregnancy Pampering 101

Even though nothing can really transcend the magnificent feeling of being pregnant and actually being able to give life to another human being, some days we have to admit that we could all do without those adverse symptoms that pregnancy brings.

For those of us who have already experienced pregnancy, we all know that those so-called bouts of morning sickness do not always reserve itself to just the mornings.

And swollen feet towards the end of the third trimester is no walk in the park, either. It is always great to be good to ourselves and get a little pampering every so often.

Here are a few tips to relieve some pregnancy stress:

Get the hubby to give you a nice foot bath to relieve some of the discomfort we have to subject our feet to or you could go to your local spa for one (you can get really good deals online or on Groupon sometimes).

Sit back, enjoy the view and just “be” for a half an hour, with a champagne or martini glass in hand - filled with cranberry juice of course!

Pregnancy is the perfect time to eat whatever you want or desire in that minute without calling it a guilty pleasure afterwards. Think of how nice it would be to just say this to the person staring at your overly-filled platter of delectable treats – “hey, I’m pregnant, what’s your excuse”?

The good thing about not being able to see your feet in the last trimester, is that you don’t need to maintain them either – get someone else to do it. If you have a sister, you could always guilt here into painting your nails for you or you could guilt the hubby into paying for yet another mani-pedi for you. Oh, and you will need a lot of back rubs and massages, so make sure your whole family knows it.

Some women tend to forget to channel their inner beauty during their maternity and just fall back into a pair of comfortable jogging pants or the husband’s t-shirt, but it is OK to make that pregnancy glow shine even brighter once in a while. You don’t have to break the piggybank, but treat yourself to some high quality maternity clothing once in a while. For some women, pregnancy is a once in a lifetime experience, so embrace it.

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise. This is a good way to make your favourite pregnancy dress look like a different outfit each time. Picture wearing that floral dress you love so much on its own today and then accessorising it with a satin waistband tomorrow – two completely different dresses right (sounds silly, but it works)?

  1. Great Pregnancy tips! I will defo be treating myself once I'm in my 2nd trimester, am currently 9 weeks and feeling like an old hag due to horrid all day sickness so I think a treat is in order for me!!
