Review: Weight Watchers Wine

I bet you didn't know that!  Not unless you are a dedicated Weight watcheree anyway.  Yep, the UK's no.1 low calorie brand makes wine too.  Well actually they rely on award-winning winemaker REH Kendermann to do the actual making, but Weight Watchers® ensure that the wine meets their strict calorie criteria, an containing only 75 calories per 125ml compared to most other wines which have more than 100 calories per 125ml, that has got ot be a good thing!

Each glass also has a value of only 2 ProPoints® per 125 ml glass compared to 3 or more ProPoints for most other wines, and being naturally lower in alcohol, Weight Watchers Wines also help meet the advised lower levels of alcohol consumption.  Now here's the clever winemaker bit: these wines have fewer calories than other wines because the grapes are grown in Germany’s cool, northerly climate on rolling vineyard countryside close to Germany’s majestic River Rhine.  This, and the fact that the harvest takes place slightly earlier than the main harvest, means that the wines are naturally lower in alcohol as the native grapes are used to the cool conditions.

And lower alcohol = lower calories, clever eh?  The cool climate also allows the grapes’ natural aromas to develop to their optimum, giving wines with plenty of flavour and character. These flavours are preserved during the winemaking process thanks to a carefully controlled fermentation at cool temperatures.

The Weight Watchers Wines range currently consists of:

Weight Watchers Fruity White Wine - available in Asda, Morrisons and Tesco
Weight Watchers Fruity White Wine is fresh and crisp with aromas of apples and pears. It has a ProPoints value of 2 per 125ml glass and 8.5%abv.
Available in 75cl and the handy 18.7cl bottle format for perfect portion control.

Weight Watchers Refreshing Rosé Wine- available in Asda, Tesco and Waitrose
Weight Watchers Refreshing Rosé Wine is lively and fruity with aromas of raspberries and cherries. It has a ProPoints value of 2 per 125ml glass and 8.5%abv.
Available in 75cl and the handy 18.7cl bottle format for perfect portion control.

We tried the Rosé Wine and were quite impressed with it, slightly dry with a fruity quality it goes well with food, and we would definitely buy it again.  I can see this being a good summer's evening tipple!  3.5/5
