Although it is months away, Lara has been talking excitedly about her birthday and we've decided that we might throw her a Disney themed party! She loves the Disney princesses so I can imagine this is going to be a very pink, sparkly afternoon!
I’ve been thinking about activities and special touches which will make this her best birthday yet, especially considering that she’s now old enough to really appreciate the party. If you’re organising a Disney princess party, maybe these ideas will be good for you as well!
We obviously couldn’t have a Disney princess party without fancy dress! She already loves dressing up so this will probably be her favourite part of the entire afternoon.
This Sleeping Beauty costume would be perfect as she loves the classic Disney characters, and they look like they are of great quality as well, so it should hopefully last her at least a year! The colour on the dress is also a great place to start when looking for plates, cups, napkins, decorations, etc.
I found this costume and a lot of other fancy dress princess outfits on Fancy Dress Ball’s website, and I have to say, they have a lot of amusing Disney-inspired kids costumes, and for older children too. If your child loves Disney but isn’t too keen on the whole princess costume idea, there are also a lot of alternatives to go with like the adorable little Minnie Mouse, Red Riding Hood and fairy costumes that I've seen on the site.
Food and treats
Cupcakes have always been popular amongst children, and thanks to the popularity of the sweet treat for adults, you have endless options for making the little cakes perfect for a princess.
Drawing and face paints always go down very well at children’s parties, but I’ll also make a Disney themed pass the parcel with a little gift from the Disney store inside. Fortunately, Disney music is really popular, so obviously I’ll be using the soundtracks from some of the films for the children to play musical chairs, pass the parcel, and just to have a little dance to!
