The main criteria for good snow boots is the depth of tread on the sole. Flat fashion type boots just aren't going to cut it - literally - and you'll be on your backside in no time! Finding decent boots on the high street is virtually impossible, with the usual triumph of style over substance that you might expect. I was delighted then to find two ranges of decent boots on the site jellyegg.com, which features a wide variety of footwear for men, women, children and babies.
The two ranges that particularly impressed me were those from Keen Footwear and The Muck Boot Company (great name!). Both brands offer high quality boots with decent grip and extra delights like fleece linings to keep the chill out. Look like I will soon have a new pair of snow boots, now I just have to decide which pair to go for...
Whilst the Keen Shelby High Boot Black is waterproof with a breathable membrane and leather lining will cope whatever the weather, with classic looks and reliable comfort. And they would just go with everything, wouldn't they? Oh and they also have a traction-enhancing lugged outsole to keep feet dry and footing sure, even in snow.
Or for something a little different, how about these Arctic Adventure Plain Black boots from The Muck Boot Company. These lightweight, fleece-lined neoprene winter wellies have a multi-purpose rubber sole for optimum traction and stability, as well as being fleece-lined for extra warmth. In fact they are suitable from a whopping -29 C to +21 C! They also fit snug to the calf to make sure any cold chills stay out, and come in three colours: Plain Black, Black/Purple and Black/Maroon.
Ooh, I think the fun colour choice might just swing it... What about you?
