Review & Giveaway: Hand-Made Memories Gro Dolly - ENDED

"Creating treasured keepsakes from your
child's precious first garments"

We all have our favourite clothes our babies wore, those items which hold extra special memories, whether it is the outfit they first came home from hospital in, or what they wore for their firts Christmas etc.  Unfortunately, all too often these much-loved garments lie stuffed in a drawer or tucked away in a box in the attic.  Luckily, clever people like Lucy from Memories Gro can turn your much-loved items into a beautiful keepsake.  You just collect your clothing up, pop it in the post, and a beautiful dolly will miraculously appear!

Dolly options for girls...

... and boys!

When Lucy offered to make a dolly for us, I knew straight away which clothes to choose.  When Lara was only a few weeks old, we were in Sainsbury's where I spotted a fab range of matrioshka (Russian doll) clothing.  Having a bit of a thing about all things Russian, especially matrioshki, I immediately snapped up various items in the range, in a variety of sizes.  As Lara grew and each new set of clothing appeared, I would fondly take out the Russian-inspired items, but of course as with most baby clothes, they never had a huge amount of wear.

I had been wondering what I with my feeble sewing skills might do with them, when Lucy fortuitously offered to make us a very special dolly.  So I despatched my collection of jersey vests, and our beautiful doll was made!

Featuring all of the gorgeous fabrics we treasured, this doll is so lovely, and brings back so many memories for us.  I love how Lucy has featured the big dolly motif at the front, and used the detailed Russian doll fabric for the body and legs.  She's just gorgeous!

Although not intended for use as a toy, due to the inability to submit dolls for testing, and the potential fragility of the fabrics used, Lara has gently introduced her dolly to lots of her other toys, from ponies to cuddlies, and she has made her home in the big doll's house.  (I think she may have to segue to a shelf soon though!)  Lara loves her, and was very excited to see her clothes being re-used in this way.  Such a lovely gift!

You can contact Lucy on Facebook and Twitter, and have a look at some of her work on Pinterest.
