This is the second year in a row that Tesco has beaten off luxury rivals to scoop the accolade, with wowed judges commending the 'something for everyone' nature of the egg[s], as well as it's beautiful presentation. With an amazing score of 88 out of 100, the Finest Medley of Eggs saw off many luxurious rivals such as the Harrods Lattice Egg (79/100, £24.95) and the Rococco Milk & Dark Egg (78/100, £45).
Good Housekeeping Consumer Director Caroline Bloor said:
"You are as likely to find a delicious Easter treat
in the supermarket as you are in the luxury shops."
Containing a selection of five large half eggs nestled together, with a whole golden egg at its heart, the Medley really does contain something for everyone. The outer egg half is thick milk chocolate with hazelnut and coconut pieces, followed by a slightly smaller rich dark chocolate shell in even thicker chocolate, a second milk chocolate half egg, then a white chocolate one with raspberry pieces, another small dark chocolate egg, and the much- fought over golden egg in the centre.
Each of the half eggs is formed from high quality, thick chocolate, and all are delicious. Steve is our resident dark chocolate aficionado and proclaimed the dark choccy eggs of excellent standard. All of the other eggs are delicious, and we have gone out of our way to sample them all for you dear reader! In fact, the girls and I are still working our way through the rest of the egg, and more than once have I found another piece broken away after it has gone suspiciously quiet in the kitchen...
