Picnic Drink Ideas

We have been sampling lots of delicious new drinks over the past few weeks, all perfect for picnics and new school year lunchboxes.  Whether your children prefer juice, milk, or something a bit different, here's what we thought of some of the new products on the market.

Ribena has undergone a few makeovers in recent years with various new flavours and concepts coming to market.  The latest incarnation boasts immune-boosting powers with the addition of vitamins A, C and E.  Available in a multipack of 10 ready to drink cartons and 850ml bottles, Ribena Plus is widely available.

The invention of new tiny squeezy bottles to add all the flavour of your favourite squash or cordial in a convenient handy bottle is such a great idea.  Perfect for keeping in your handbag or pocket, or for taking on picnics as we did.  Steve loves Vimto in all its various flavours, so he has really enjoyed trying these.  I think his favourite is the strawberry, although the original does take some beating!  Sugar free and with zero calories, this is a great addition to the summer drinks cupboard.

Daioni milkshakes are made from Welsh organic milk, produced on a family farm in Pemrbokeshire.  They are naturally low in fat and sugar, full of calcium, and they are free from all artificial flavourings.  Full of dairy goodness, they are available in Chocolate, Strawberry and Banana flavours. priced 79p for 200ml.  Our testers loved them, as you can see from the photos below!

Vita Coco Kids 100% Natural Coco Water is a naturally hydrating blend of coconut water from young green coconuts, natural fruit flavourings and water.  It is available in two flavours: apple & blackcurrant and mango & pineapple.  It contains naturally occurring potassium for energy, essential electrolytes, and provides excellent hydration, all with no artificial colourings or preservatives.  Available in packs of four individual 180ml cartons, Vita Coco is available from Waitrose, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Amazon, Holladnd & Barrett and Tesco, priced £2.99.

And finally, one for the grown-ups, Shloer is now available in smaller bottles.  Sold in a multi-pack of 4, each bottle contains 275ml of delicious, refreshing Shloer original.  Perfect for beaches, picnics, festivals and relaxing in the back garden, all without the alcohol.  Shloer multipacks are widely available.  Cheers!
