Thoughtful Gifts for your Best Friend’s Birthday on a Budget

If you’re after a gift to show your best friend just how much you care about them on their birthday but money is a little tight, we’ve come up with some ideas to prove that you don’t need to spend a fortune to make them feel special.  Some of them require a little extra craftiness but we guarantee they’ll all be winners!

Photo-upload mugs and coasters

There’s nothing better than having a natter and catch up with your best friend over a cuppa and too many biscuits. Therefore we think a mug and a coaster makes a great gift, especially if you go the extra mile to make them more special. We love the idea of giving a photo-upload mug and matching coaster, using a favourite snap of the two of you together which would be really sweet, and at sites like www.zippi.co.uk it’s really cheap, too.

A matching piece of costume jewellery

Jewellery only costs the earth if you go for the platinum gold options and pure diamonds, but costume jewellery is getting much better in terms of quality and design. You could opt for a lovely bracelet for her, or even go for something matching for extra best-friend-effect. We love this dainty heart bracelet which is a great price.

Filled-in scrapbook full of memories

Here’s where the craftiness comes in. You can buy a scrapbook for as little as £5 from most good high street craft stores, but she’ll value it completely if you fill it with loads of things to do with your friendship. Fill it with photos, cinema stubs, receipts from coffee dates and train tickets...basically anything that sparks a happy memory the two of you have together!

A token keepsake gift

Something they can keep forever is always a nice idea, especially if it has a personal element to her or to the two of you as friends. There are some lovely ones like this hanging heart token on that website that are well worth checking out, and they come with different messages on them to suit different friendship situations. Wrap it up in a pretty box and voila...it looks like a really pricey gift!

A friend-themed print for the wall

A print for the wall can be great if it has a really nice friendship-themed message on it, as it’ll be something they can see every day that will remind them of you and your friendship. There are loads available online and in stores. There are some stunning prints on Etsy.com and they come in a range of sizes, prices, colours and quotes.

A personalised glass for their favourite bubbly

As mentioned above, having a drink with your best friend is great, but if tea’s not your bag and you need something a little stronger, a personalised wine (or even champagne!) glass would be perfect. You could get one with her name on or a little message which would be really sweet and would show how much you care.
