Over the past four months, Martin has shot images of meals shared with family and friends across Britain. From Cornwall to Kent, London to Yorkshire, the 30 images chosen for a new exhibition capture what makes up the typical, modern mealtime in Britain today. With a variety of unique and unusual situations captured, including a group of young professional sharing a midweek meal with a friend over Skype, as well as the more usual shared curry, or TV dinner.
Despite the oft-voiced concerns about fractured families and lonely singles, this delightful exhibition shows the continued power of mealtimes in bringing people together every day. Martin comments on the differences and similarities between the people he has met during the project. Head over to the Birds Eye View website to find out more about the exhibition, and to see the images.
