Review: Hotel Tycoon Game

We do love a board game here at Attachment Towers, and the latest addition to our collection is the fun Hotel Tycoon from Esdevium Games.  Apparently it's an update of the '70s game Hotel, but I don't remember that one at all.  Brought to the 21st Century with an upgraded look, feel and gameplay, the new edition includes an astonishing array of components, including twenty-eight hotel buildings that players add to the colourful game board as they progress.

This is the addictive new family game for budding real estate magnates, think Monopoly for jetsetters!  Players jet around the board snapping up land and title deeds as they go, then build some stunning Hotels, from the ice palaces of the Artika, to the skyscrapers of Uptown Towers.  Guests are welcome to come and stay as they travel round the board, but if they stay long enough, they might just go bankrupt when it’s time to pay the bill!

We found putting the hotels together a bit fiddly, but it didn't really take too long.  The game is great fun and rather competitive!  Steve and I played it one evening and really enjoyed it - and then went for a re-match the next evening!  The girls are a bit young for it yet, but I think this will become a firm family favourite in the years to come.  The 3D effect of the buildings is a great feature, especially as they are reminiscent of many famous hotels.  This is a really fun game, and I can see how it could be slightly addictive!

Hotel Tycoon is suitable for 2 to 4 players aged 8+.  It is available from stores like Argos priced £24.99.

You can also find Hotel Tycoon on Facebook.
