What's New In Our Kitchen #6

Here's what's new in our kitchen this week...

Morrisons are currently sponsoring Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway on ITV and have some great meals on offer to enjoy with your Saturday night telly, far cheaper than a takeaway too!  We tried the M Kitchen Macaroni Cheese, which was "creamy, cheesy and yummy" according to Sophia.  We loved the M Kitchen Stuffed Crust Cheese Feast Pizza too, which had a sharp tang to the pizza sauce which we all liked.  The only complaint was that the stuffed crust was a little dry, so we will have to invest in something to dip it in next time!

Steve and I really enjoyed the buttery, deep flavour of the award-winning Chardonnay which went well with all the cheesiness, and also worked well with a nut roast on Sunday.  It has a long finish and a perky nose, but is definitely a food one, not one to drink on its own.

Italian, Indian and Chinese dishes are all available in the M Kitchen range, as well as an extensive in-store wine collection, so head to your local Morrisons to get your Saturday night feast!

We are currently welcoming lots of yummy Easter treats in for testing and will tell you all about them in due course, but I had to show you this selection from Cottage Delight first.  Head over to their website now to stock up on Easter goodies!

The girls have been sampling a new range of fruity snacks called Little Fruit Bowl.  Containing only real fruit purees and juices, these snacks are available in 15g packets so they're great for lunchboxes and pockets.  The range comprises:

- Apple Sticks with Crisped Rice
- Raspberry Sticks with Puffed Cereal
- Apple Fruity Fingers
- Strawberry Fruity Fingers
- Banana Fruity Fingers

We liked the ones with crispy bits in them best, although Lara really liked the banana fruity sticks too.  The girls also decided to make 'smoothies' with them by mixing them up and created some interesting flavours!  I'm not sure we would buy these ourselves or not, maybe to have a few packets in the car on standby, but on the whole I think the girls would prefer to eat fresh fruit.

Our final deliveries mean we better start getting busy baking as we have received a lovely selection of products from Renshaw Baking, including lots of lovely things to sprinkle on top of biscuits and fairy cakes.  The girls are rather excited about this!  I'll let you know how we get on.

Don't forget to enter the baking with mum competition Renshaw are running, you could win a luxurious pampering spa day for two!

We have also been trying out Aldi's new Home Baking Range which is available in their Special Buys section from tomorrow, Sunday 15th March.  Including measuring spoons, cake tins, ingredients and accessories, the range starts from just 49p for ingredienst, and £1.99 for equipment.  There is even a rather lovely food mixer for just £34.99:

We were sent a new loaf tin and loaf tin cake storer, as well as some other goodies, so we set to and made our yummy banana bread immediately - any excuse! ;-)

Like all Aldi Specialbuys, when they're gone, they're gone, so head to your nearest store from tomorrow to purchase.
