National Vegetarian Week Menu - the Shopping List #nvw15 #vegetarian

Hopefully now you've seen our National Vegetarian Week menu, and hopefully at least some of the dishes have taken your fancy.  If you are planning to stick with our recipes all next week, here is the definitive shopping list for all of next weeks' meals.  We've even included two bakes for snacks, to be published on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.


Here's everything you will need for 7 lunches, 7 dinners and 2 bakes.  All dishes serve 4 people, so increase or decrease your amounts as necessary, or keep them as they are and have leftovers.  I'm afraid you'll have to decide on your own breakfasts though!

Fruit

2 pomegranates
4 lemons

Salad

7 large tomatoes
cherry tomatoes
bunch/pack of radishes
bunch of spring onions
pack of vacuum-packed cooked beetroot
4 bags of watercress
1 1/2 cucumbers
1 green pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 red pepper
4 avocadoes
lettuce or bag of salad leaves
iceberg lettuce

Herbs

green chillies
red chillies
coriander
mint
garlic
ginger
tarragon
flat leaf parsley

Vegetables

3 bundles of British asparagus
200g Maris Piper potatoes
4 onions
3 red onions
250g peas
3 courgettes
75g pea shoots
2 carrots
1 cauliflower
2 aubergines
250g button mushrooms
1kg mushrooms, assorted
2 butternut squash
vegetables to serve with main courses (e.g. broccoli, cauliflower, French beans)

Dairy

Cheddar
150g Greek yogurt
50g feta cheese
125g ricotta
315g unsalted butter
salted butter
mascarpone

Chilled

200g fresh tagliatelle

Frozen

chips or potato wedges (or make your own!)

Bakery

sourdough or other rustic bread
wholemeal pitta bread
burger buns
pack of sandwich thins

Dry Goods

50g bulgur wheat
200g basmati rice
225g dried chickpeas
100g mung beans
250g chana daal
2 sheets nori (dried seaweed)
300g Yutaka Premium Sushi Rice
2 x 250g pack Waitrose LOVE Life Spelt, Quinoa, Red Rice and Wild Rice
2 jars or tubes of sundried tomato paste
couscous
Manomasa Pink Peppercorn & Green Lemon Tortilla Chips

Spices & Dried Herbs

cinnamon
sumac seeds
dried oregano
red chilli powder
coriander seeds
ground coriander
cayenne pepper
cumin seeds
black mustard seeds

20g white roasted sesame seeds

50g freeze-dried whole cherries
300g light muscavado sugar
150g white chocolate
caster sugar
icing sugar
50g toasted flaked almonds
30g flaked almonds
50g ground almonds
dried cranberries
100g blanched whole almonds

Wine 

25ml red wine
