Father's Day Gift Guide Part 1

Now we're into June I feel justified in talking to you about Father's Day, which falls on the 21st June this year.  Steve has received some lovely products to review, which would all make great Father's Day gifts, and check out our Father's Day Pinterest board for some homespun inspiration too.

Socks, but not as you know them.  These stunning Happy Socks from Fat Buddha Store are fun, funky and stylish.  I love the contrast colours and patterns, and Steve is particularly taken with the bright green pair, his favourite colour.  If you're going to give socks, it's tradition after all, then give Happy Socks!

If your dad or partner has a favourite chair, or as in our house would like to put in a claim, how about this fun Mr Cushion from Qwerkity?  With a natural-coloured linen-mix cover which can be removed for washing, it will fit into any decor and looks stylish and fun.

For more fun ideas, these Minion gifts are a great idea, although they may be requisitioned by the children...  With the Minions movie just around the corner, everyone is going crazy about the yellow critters, and these pocket money gifts priced from just £4 are perfect for little ones to buy for daddy on their own.  These gifts are available from Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's.  Cufflinks and a money clip plus cufflinks set are available from Argos and Primark.

One gift idea we love, and that is sure to be remembered, are experience days.  You could plan your own, but specialist companies like Into The Blue experience days provide a great service and offer something for everyone, from a brewery tour or real ale train, to helicopter lessons or the chance to ride in a spitfire (great one for grandad, maybe?)  If you have a new baby, the Father & Child photoshoot could be the perfect gift for a first Father's Day.

For a cute handmade gift that gets the children's creativity involved, the Make-a-Bar Chocolate Factory creative kits are great fun.  The kits include everything kids need to design and make their own chocolate bars in minutes.  Use the included stencils, or make your own, then draw your outline in the tray provided with dark chocolate, colour it in with white chocolate, cover your design with the milk chocolate, and leave in the fridge to set for 20/30 minutes!  A great gift for dads or grandads and can be made from children aged 4 and up, or possibly younger with some help.

Shaving is one of those things most dads have to do every day, so why not make it more fun, and better for them with this range from The Real Shaving Company.  This award-winning wet grooming range comprises a Daily Face Scrub with exfoliating beads to help remove dead skin cells and impurities, a Sensitive Shave Gel which provides an invisible protective barrier to aid razor glide and protect skin, and a Sensitive Moisturiser with Q10 and an advanced soothing formula which helps to protect skin from everyday aggressors and protect against ageing.  the range is priced from £3.99 and is available from Boots, Waitrose and Sainsbury's stores nationwide.

For those men who prefer a manual razor, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide with Flexball Technology is one of the best.  It maintains maximum contact over facial contours and gets virtually every hair.  It's economical too: one refill will give you a whole month of shaves.

Its features include:

• 5 thinner, finer blades†† for less tug and pull*
• A precision trimmer on back for accurate edging
• All Fusion razor blades fit all Fusion handles
• Gillette's #1 razor on sensitive skin

The razor is ideal used with  the 2in1 Fusion Proglide Sensitive Shave Gel which uniquely pairs a shave cream that hydrates to soften hair with powerful skincare to protect the skin, providing the smoothest and most comfortable shave yet.  And if you're fed up with the bombsite aftermath of every shave, the redesigned cannister has a clean-dispense actuator, a rust-free bottom, and a gel gauge, so there's no mess, no rust, and no guessing.

For the best electric razor around, the Braun CoolTec range is the world's first shaver with active cooling technology that calms the skin and puts skin irritation on ice.  CoolTec is Braun's first shaver designed specifically for men with sensitive skin, and has an aluminium cooling bar to minimise skin irritation and redness, as well as the SensoBlade, specially designed shaving blades for the ultimate smooth shave.  With its stylish design and ability to work in the shower or out (waterproof up to 5m), this quality shaver is ideal for all skin types, including sensitive.

Steve loves the close shave it gives, even on the shortest stubble.  The ice shave is a great feature and really helps combat redness and irritation, whilst the self-clean facility keeps it fresh and clean to use, which also helps fight irritation.  Other great features are the fast charge and LED battery display, which help make it a stylish and practical shaver.

I hope we've given you some ideas for how to celebrate that very special dad.  Look out for part two of our guide coming soon.
