Review: Inside Out Toys and Stationery from the Disney Store

You can't have avoided hearing about the new Disney Pixar movie Inside Out this summer, the film offering an insight into the ‘Headquarters’, or the control centre inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind.  In her mind, five Emotions are hard at work, led by light-hearted optimist Joy, whose mission is to make sure Riley stays happy.   However, with Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness offering their input and trying to drive proceedings, sticking to the happy side isn't always easy...

With Fear heading up safety, Anger ensuring all is fair, and Disgust preventing Riley from getting poisoned, both physically and socially, Riley's HQ is a busy place. Sadness isn’t exactly sure what her role is, and frankly, neither is anyone else!

To celebrate the film, the Disney Store has a wide range of exciting, fun toys and stationery featuring all the different characters.  With cuddly characters in different sizes, talking dolls, vinyl figures, stationery, mugs, and accessories, there's something for everyone!  The Disney Store Inside Out collection even includes clothes and socks.

We were sent a range of goodies for the girls to review, and they were delighted with them.  Lara was very impressed with the cuddly Disgust soft toy who has a sparkly dress and jazzy neck scarf.  She has that typical Disney styling and is a very well made doll, who quickly made herself at home with our Snow White, Elsa and Ariel residents.  In fact, Lara was so impressed with her new doll that she insisted we get one for her friend's birthday too!  Definitely a big hit.

We also loved the stationery range which includes an amazing sticky notes collection which features all of the characters across 16 individual pads, each of 30 sheets.  With all the emotions covered, the recipient of your note won't be in any doubt about how you are feeling!  This would make a great stocking filler for a teenager, I thought!  The fun Inside Out journal contains both lined and graph paper sections.  It is divided into five sections, with characters from the film on each divider, and would be a great place to record thoughts, work and notes.

For young children, the character of Angry seems to appeal most, which I'm not sure is a good or a bad thing!  I guess it's one of the most difficult emotions to deal with and come to terms with as you grow up, so maybe that's why.  I hope it's not because we parents make them angry all the time!!  Lara and Sophia earmarked the Angry mug and ball immediately for their friend, Connor, as he was so taken with the character over the summer.  I'm sure he's going to love them!
