Christmas Gift Guide: For Kids (Part One)

This year we've tried to break our gifts for kids down a bit more so that you can find something for the age group you are looking for more easily.  We therefore have guides for babies & younger toddlers; older toddlers & preschoolers; children aged c. 5-10; and teens & tweens for age 10 plus.  Of course, there will be some overlap in all categories, and you may even disagree with where I've placed things (how very dare you!), but hopefully you'll find just the thing for all the smaller people on your list in our pages.

Shopkins are the collectable craze of the year and the tiny characters now come with a wide variety of playsets and accessories, as well as in the collections of little baskets and shopping bags.  We love the Large Shoppin' Cart, which is great for keeping their Shopkins collection safe and sound, as well as playing at shopping in.  It retails at £13 and comes with 2 exclusive Shopkins characters and 2 shopping bags.

Lots of Shopkins shops are now available, but the girls' favourite is the Supermarket Playset.  With opening and closing supermarket doors, a shopping trolley, shelves to stock, a fun delivery chute to slide the Shopkins down, and even a moving conveyor belt to check them out on, this cute set provides hours of fun and role play opportunities.  It retails at £20 and comes with 2 exclusive characters.  Other shop sets and Shopkins character sets are available.

We love Aquabeads, little beads you can make all sorts of designs with, then spray with water to stick them together.  Lara spends ages making little flowers and other tiny designs for her Sylvanian figures to play with.  This Aquabeads Hello Kitty Fashion Set includes a great Hello Kitty-shaped case to store all your Aquabeads in, a variety of Hello Kitty templates for your designs, and over 600 beads!  It also has a bean pen to make placing the beads easier, perfect for us adults who clumsily knock everything else when assisting with designs!  Making these Aquabeads designs is a lovely, mindful activity, perfect for harnessing all their creativity and artistic talent.
