Food Fortnight: Christmas Cocktails 2015

Christmas time is cocktail time!  And with the party season started, here are some of the best new cocktails around this year.  (Just in time for the weekend.)  Enjoy!

The Triple Wood

An oak-matured trinity of classic flavours, seasoned with lavender bitters.

60ml Glen Moray Classic Single Malt
10ml white port
10ml Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth
Dash of Bob’s Lavender Bitters

Stir over ice and strain into a chilled goblet garnishing with orange peel twist and a sprig of heather.

The Gregorian Blazer

50ml Glen Moray Classic
15ml Benedictine
1 x star anise
1 x orange peel
1 x lemon peel
25ml distillery water

Rinse a metal tankard or jug with the Benedictine. Pour in a double measure of Glen Moray Classic,
adding the star anise and citrus peels. Flame to release the smoky essences. Extinguish the flame
by adding the water, then pour the warm contents into a brandy balloon.

The Moray Sour

Why hide the light, complex flavours of Glen Moray? This cocktail carefully builds on the citrus and
butterscotch notes - the whisky sour reborn.

50ml Glen Moray Classic
25ml fresh lemon juice
3tsp caster sugar
Dash of Angostura Bitters
1 x fresh ginger root
1 x lemongrass bulb
1 x egg white

Muddle the fresh ginger and lemongrass bulb in the base of a shaker tin. Add all ingredients and
dry shake to emulsify the egg white. Add ice and shake until the tin is frosted. Fine-strain into a
chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with rustic lemon twist and patterned Angostura drops.
