Christmas Gift Guide: Home (Great Host Gifts Too)

Whether one of those show-home-perfect domestic god/desses or a snuggle-cosy-obsessed Hygge follower, if there's a homebody on your list they'll love one of these great gifts.

We love this retro phone from Aldi, or for something perfect for your Christmas host or hostess, try this lush chocolate Christmas tree from Asda.  (Check out our Asda Christmas food preview to get you in the mood!)

For an afternoon tea fan, these pretty cups and saucers from Lakeland's whimsical Eclectic range.  The perfect thing for a proper and oh-so-sophisticated afternoon tea.  We also love the pretty Miranda Kerr range from Royal Albert, full of gorgeous blooms and pretty pastels.

But who says homes - or pastels - have to be twee?  This stunning Pyro Pet candle "Dýri" (short for "hreindýr", which means "reindeer" in Icelandic) would be the perfect gift for any quirky homemaker, or ideal for students!  Available in white or blue, with a gold skeleton, the Dýri candle stands 22cm tall, burns for approximately 22 hours, and burns to reveal the skeleton underneath.

For room fragrance, the home range from Landon Tyler is great value and available in a range of twelve different scents.  With candles, diffusers and gifts, there is something for all tastes.  We love the diffuser set which looks great and dispenses fragrance throughout the room.

Finding attractive salt and pepper shakers that look attractive enough for the table can be tricky, but this stylish Cole & Mason Ceramic Salt & Pepper set comes with an oiled beech tray to neatly store and display the white and grey ceramic shakers.  A lovely addition to your dining table.

If your loved one is more into informal tableware or has a love of the hygge style, this lovely knitwear pattern crockery and copper cutlery, both from Asda, will go down well.

For a retro treat, we love this gorgeous pale green phone from Wild and Wolf. The Wild and Wolf 746 Phone in Swedish Green is a superb blend of retro cool and subtle colour.  It makes a strong style statement without being brash and gives a hint of '60s style to any interior.  Based on the iconic 1967 design by the General Post Office, the Wild & Wolf 746 Swedish Green is a classic desk phone redesigned for the modern age.  Instead of the rotary dial Wild & Wolf have opted for easy to use push buttons, this small but significant change maintains this quintessential 1960s design while making the phone that much easier to use.  The body and receiver of this unique phone are made from a light green injection moulded plastic and paired with grey buttons and a grey cable for a sleek, understated but distinctive look.

In the kitchen we love the cute 'nose' bowls from Portuguese company Dedal.  The Naso is a lovely bowl with a nose that can be used decoratively or practically.  Perfect for cereal, soups, snacks and even as a plant or herb pot.  They are available from Indigo Stripes in Bookham, Surrey or online at

Personalised cushions make a fantastic gift, as you can get any photo you want printed up, perfect for capturing memories, or for favourite photos, pets etc.  We got this one made for Lara, who is more than slightly pug-obsessed!  Get a photo of your choice printed up into a soft, snuggly cushion over on the Mr Nutcase website, which offers fast service and great prices.

Finally, their ambassador reputation may be behind them, but Ferrero Rocher and friends are a must-have for any home this Christmas.  Their beautifully packaged chocolates make a welcome gift and are lovely to display under twinkling fairy lights.  Treat your host this Christmas.
