10 Items Under £100 That Will Instantly Refresh Your Wardrobe This Season

In last month's style piece we told you how to transition summer clothes to autumn, whilst remaining on trend and warm.  This month we bring you seven fantastic fall items that will bring your wardrobe together, get you bang on trend, and give your autumn wardrobe the wow factor - all for less than £100 each!

Viola velvet frill jacket, Monsoon £59

Key trends this season are rich fabrics like velvet, tweed, lace, jacquard and even corduroy; whilst colour-wise, you couldn't move for reds in every hue, although deep sea greens and blues also had their moment.

Embroidered blouse, Velvet by Graham & Spencer £77

Leo velvet embroidered clutch, Rebecca Minkoff £72

Embroidery and embellishments were huge with beads, trims and sequins adding a hint of luxury, along with lots of frills and ruffles.  More prosaically, belts and buttons, lots and lots of buttons, led the charge.  Prints are still big, particularly modern florals and folksy Russian prints.

Highland floral neck tie dress, Great Plains £85

There's also been a lot of tonal dressing on the catwalks, and everything from sophisticated corporate couture to what can only be described as granny chic, with mid-length hems dominating.  Even halfway through the 2010s, we seem confused as to whether to face forward or back.  But that creates a whole gamut of fashion possibilities; bring it on!

Velvet floral print dress, Marks & Spencer £69

If you need a key piece for a wedding, special function or party, invest in something spectacular such as this statement sleeve dress.  Embracing the key trends of ruffles and frills, as well as fitting into that red colour palette (I told you it was broad), this dress will give your wardrobe the wow factor, yet can still be brought out season after season for a new crowd.

Shift dress with ruffled sleeves, La Redoute £49

Some trends are now in their third or fourth incarnation so you can actually pick up some previous season bargains in stores like TK Maxx or online from retailers such as Lyst. For example, the midi skirt and chunky knit combo is still going strong.  If you can't shop from your wardrobe, how about this brilliant grey Baukjen skirt, which will pair with your knits and boots for instant glam style.

Grey farra midi skirt, Baukjen £74

If one trend defines the coming season it's red. Top to toe, all encompassing red. With a shade to suit every skin tone, and combined hues working remarkably well together, this is one fashion we can all embrace.

Red daline midi dress, Sunday in Brooklyn £59

Iode women's low ankle boots, Betty London £70

A new coat is one of the biggest investments you'll make this season, so why not nail the trends in one go, for less than £100?  This fantastic coat from good old M&S combines tweed and red but, with the other colours in the fabric, it will go with everything.

Checked coat, Marks & Spencer £99
