Christmas in July

So, that's Christmas over for another year.  The July version anyway.  The journalists, the photographers, the bloggers, the pundits, we've all done the rounds and noted down our favourite picks for the festive season.  The results of our exhausting travails will be available on your screen or via your newsagent in November and December, so that you can dash out and snap up the best decorations, gifts, wine and food there is.  And there are some real treats coming this year, I can tell you.  Your thoughts may be very far from Christmas right now, but here are a few sneak peeks to get your Yuletide juices flowing...

Stunning Christmas wreath at The White Company show
Food & Drink

The supermarket shows were all fantastic, but Lara and Sophia adored the Asda snow theme, complete with fake snow and igloos.  My favourite themed show was the Co-operative's Polar Express one which started with a golden ticket invitation and continued the theme throughout.  Even us adults gasped with excitement to see the smartly-dressed conductor waiting for us!  As for content, lots of delicious new foods and drinks to tell you about, so look out for our Christmas posts starting on 6th November.  Some of the supermarket wine offerings this year are particularly impressive.

Deck the Halls

Whether you are in the market for a couple of new decorations or a whole artificial tree and all the trimmings, you won't be disappointed.  This hall of decorations at the show was particularly impressive, but elsewhere there were a range of themes from Scandi and traditional, to disco brights and minimalistic.  The unusual peasant-folklore range at Wilkinson was particularly memorable.  Look out for our top picks and round-ups starting straight after Guy Fawkes!

Gifts and Toys

Of course, the main thing on people's minds will be the what to buy lists, and I'll give you a sneak peek at the predictions for top toys soon.  Look out for some more unusual ideas too, a lot of small home appliances, some experience gifts, personalisation, and much more.  It's going to be a good one!

So let me be the first to wish you a very happy Christmas, and make sure you look out for all things Christmas from 6th November onwards.  You could even subscribe to Attachment Mummy by e-mail to get all the updates straight to your inbox!
