Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment Review

We've been dealing with a lot lately here at Attachment Towers, with a car crash, miscarriage and other issues blighting the past couple of months, and now a yucky 'flu bug that refuses to budge.  Roll on 2017!  Poor Tatiana has really had the brunt of this bug, and been really ill with it.  We've had febrile convulsions, hallucinations, the works.  And one of the more irritating (literally) aspects of it has been nappy rash, so we were delighted to be sent some Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment to try.

With her immune system severely compromised by the 'flu, Tatia's poor little body has been doing all it can to recover, running a high fever, extricating fluids, and everything else.  Skincare is the last of its concerns, so her skin has been really sensitive and irritated.  Considering she's hardly ever been ill, she has really suffered this time round, bless her.

Tatia is at that in-between age where she isn't quite using the potty full-time in the day, and still needs nappies or pull-ups at night.  With this illness she hasn't been remotely interested in the effort required in using the potty, so has reverted to full-time bottom coverage, and also been reluctant to be changed often.  As most parents will know, that is going to lead to problems, especially with her skin already feeling sore and sensitive, so we have a bright red behind 😬

Nappy rash is caused by prolonged contact with a damp nappy, which causes the skin to become inflamed and sore.  It can also be caused by a nappy rubbing the skin; not cleaning the skin properly or changing quickly enough; some soaps, detergents or bubble baths; alcohol-based baby wipes, or some medications such as antibiotics.

Up to a third of babies and toddlers have nappy rash at any one time, so finding a product that protects and treats the cause and the symptoms is a relief to many.  Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment's skin-friendly formulation is free from fragrance, preservatives, colours and antiseptics, so it can be used at every bedtime nappy change, if needed, even on the most sensitive of skins.  It forms a breathable, transparent layer to gently protect delicate skin against the causes of nappy rash, and promotes healing with pro-vitamin B5.

We love the easy-to-use flip-top cap which makes applying cream to a writhing and complaining small person infinitely easier!  The cream cleared up Tatia's nappy rash quickly and efficiently and with her nearly better we haven't had any repeats, thankfully. We might even manage to go out later today!

Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment is available from all leading supermarkets, chemists and independent pharmacies, RRP £3.99 for 30g or £7.99 for 100g.
