This Month We Love... May 2017 (Part 2!)

With April's mini review round-up slipping into May, this is our second Loves post for the month, and we start with something a bit different: a cinema.  But this is no ordinary cinema.

The Showcase Cinema de Lux at West Quay South, Southampton is one of a new breed of technologically advanced cinemas.  As well as the latest laser projection and Dolby Atmos sound, every screen features fully customizable electric recliners as standard.  These super-comfy chairs recline and have foot rests that rise, so you're practically lying down if you want to be.  Sophia and Tatiana fitted into one chair together and loved their 'cinema bed'.  The surround sound and huge edge to edge screen are fantastic.  We really enjoyed the whole experience.

We saw The Boss Baby and it was the first film Tatia had sat all the way through.  Normally she careers about, climbing up and down stairs and running up and down the slope - just as well the cinema is usually empty when we go on a week day afternoon!  But this time she sat happily and comfortably throughout, and loved the film.  For the five of us the cost would have been £35, about average for the bigger cinemas round here, but the experience was definitely superior to the local Odeon or Cineworld.

With an array of restaurants on the floors below, a fantastic bar and snacking area, and lots of space, the Showcase Cinema de Lux would be ideal for a date, night with friends or family night out.  Showcase Cinema de Lux cinemas are up and down the country, we heartily recommend you give one a try!

It's a bit late, but we couldn't get through May without a May the Fourth reference, and this brilliant new light saber from Hasbro is the perfect gift for some garden fun this summer.  Turn to the dark side and launch into action with this super-deluxe Electronic Lightsaber (although a 'good' one is also available).

Create exciting stories of good versus evil in a universe of heroes, villains, and aliens; imagine what it’s like to battle as your favorite characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens; and harness the power of the most iconic Jedi and Sith from the Star Wars saga by combining their lightsabers with other components across the Bladebuilders system to create incredible weapons.  Each electronic lightsaber comes with lights, real movie sounds and a bladebuilders connector.  Choose from Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, each sold separately.

This beautiful new Arctic puzzle from George Luck displays a winter wonderland scene of sea, ice, polar bears and sea creatures.  Made from large pieces and recognisable shapes, this beautiful two-layered wooden puzzle encourages fine motor skills, memory, hand to eye co-ordination, dexterity and shape recognition.  The bright colours and stunning pictures encourage colour recognition and vocabulary building.

Suitable rom age 5 up (although our 3 year old has also enjoyed it) this two-layer puzzle introduces a range of animals from the frozen north, including polar bears, walrus and whale.  Create two wintry scenes using snow, water, sky and those stunning animals, a veritable winter wonderland. A great starting point for learning about the Arctic and its animals.

Made with non-toxic paints and safe, high quality materials the puzzle is fantastic for developing problem-solving skills.  Just look at these two engaged in solving the puzzle together when it first arrived - in pieces.
