As you can probably tell from the blog, we're having a rather slow start to the year. I always have great intentions of scheduling a month's worth of January posts weeks in advance, but it never quite works out that way!
We had a lovely time last week with all of Sophia's birthday celebrations, although the tidying and sorting out of Christmas presents, birthday presents, and goodness knows what else seems to be taking forever. But we are finally getting a bit straighter and ready to get back to normal, I think....
This year we decided not to make New Year's Resolutions as such, but simply to make plans and think about what we are looking forward to in the months to come.
In January, we have had beloved friend Paul to stay, much to the girls' delight, and celebrated Sophia's birthday. We are looking forward to starting learning time again and getting back out and about while everyone else is stuck indoors. We're wishing for a lot less rain and more crisp, wintry days. Sophia is excited about trying ballet lessons, and may start football with Tatiana too.
February will see us celebrating Lara's eighth birthday - how has that happened?! - and having our first holiday of the year. And of course, the welcome return of longer days and more sunshine, hopefully. While March's daffodils will be accompanied by a holiday in Blackpool then Easter, and full tilt into spring.
For us, a major focus for the year is saving money, so in-store events like Aldi's Baby & Toddler Specialbuy Event are a real boon. With everything from big ticket items like bedroom furniture and buggies, to bath toys, toddler foods and more, there is plenty both online and in store.
The girls received a lovely selection of craft kits and bits to keep them busy, and some lovely things to pass on to a new baby. I'm heading into Aldi on Thursday when the event hits stores to pick up some cellular blankets for just £2.99 each (great for the car) and plenty of things from the award-winning Mamia baby range.
Online you'll find great bargains such as nursery furniture, car seats, travel systems and much more. With such low prices we can all stock up on everything we need while sticking to that new year mind-set of streamlining the finances and cutting back.
Aldi's Baby & Toddler event is available online at aldi.co.uk from Sunday 14th January, and in store from Thursday 18th January.
