Fabulous Last Minute Gifts for Mum This Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day this weekend, and even if you haven't sorted anything yet there's still time to arrange the perfect day for her.  Your company, some beautiful flowers, a nice walk in the sunshine, good food and good conversation makes the perfect day.  Material gifts aren't what mums really want for Mother's Day, but you can always add some extra spoiling to the mix with these fabulous last minute Mother's Day gifts.

For most mums, an ideal Mother's Day will involve spending time with their children so, if money is short, aim for giving her your presence not presents. The perfect gifts are breakfast in bed on a pretty tray with a posy of spring flowers, and a delicious lunch with great company - and no cooking or washing up. Add a hand written or even handmade Mother's Day card, and anything else will be a bonus!

Treat mum to a delightful afternoon tea at home with a gift from Whittard of Chelsea or Twinings, the perfect way to have a relaxing afternoon. Just add a Victoria sandwich or one of our delicious cakes to the table.  If you'd rather leave the baking to someone else, enjoy afternoon tea at a hotel or National Trust property.  You could even turn it into a day out as many NT properties are running special Mother's Day events, or why not treat her to a year of days out at National Trust or English Heritage properties with a membership gift?

Treat mum to a luxury gift to make her feel really special such as one of these gorgeous luxury hampers or a beautiful beauty gift set or luxury beauty gift.  The National Gallery has a beautiful collection of unusual and unique gifts that are well worth a browse, and a well chosen gift from Emma Bridgewater is sure to delight.

With some advance planning, why not share more of your time and company with a day out or even a mini break with your mum?  Book a Champagne afternoon tea, a fun family day out or a day out in London.  There are some great deals around, so why not book a dinner and theatre evening with mum, or a lunch and a vineyard tour for your parents later in the year.

Finally, how about that classic treat, a spa day?  Enjoy a spa day at a beautiful National Trust property or one of these nationwide spa days. We recommend Champneys, Ragdale Hall and Hartwell House.  The perfect treat for mum to look forward to.

  4. Great gift ideas, my mum is a nightmare to buy for, she always insists we keep our money and spend it on our children when my sister and I ask if there's anything she wants or needs for mothers day/Christmas/birthdays, of course we don't listen, she works 6 days a week so doesn't have much time to do things, she does enjoy reading though so I usually go to whsmiths and get her a few books she likes (and hope she doesn't have them already) xXx
