Our Unschooled Week #43

Well, a bit of a non-week to report, in that my mother-in-law was in hospital so we had to rush down to Devon, cancelling lots of plans here and winging it for a few days - not my forte!  Thankfully, she is OK and we were able to visit every day before heading out on some small adventures.

The weather was pretty awful, constant rain, clouds, fog etc, but we did find some gaps in the downpours.  There was a visit to the girls' favourite playground on the sea front at Teignmouth, complete with hot tea and Nutella-topped fresh doughnuts - yum!

Some time at the seaside amusements at Dawlish Warren, being crazy on the cars ...

... followed by endless rides on the enormous slide ...

... and then trying their luck on the hook-a-duck stall.  (There may have been some closet collusion between mother and stallholder to ensure everyone got the prize they wanted!)

And finally a quick visit to the windy beach and a stop at the amusements.  Lara was delighted with this Paw Patrol ride!

Even a visit to Sainsbury's on the way back was fun, with these Star Wars cut outs to interact with!

It looks like we visited late at night, but this was the famous clapper bridge at Postbridge one lunchtime.  The water was very high and fast because of all the rain, but we managed some pond dipping and even a picnic between showers.

At least someone thinks it's spring!

When the cold and rain got too much, we decamped to the House of Marbles at Bovey Tracey before heading back to play with nail kit, doll and play dough sets they had won on the ducks the day before.

Hotels at the last minute in Devon during the Easter holidays were an insane price, so we stayed at a caravan site in Exmouth which was like a mud bath, but the girls still managed to play in the playground.

Admiring the view across Lyme Bay towards Budleigh Salterton.

We only managed one evening visit to the beach, so will have to make the most of beach life next time we're down!

Hope you've had a good week - and that ours is more normal and calm next week! x

And don't forget to enter our competitions!
