Things to do with the Family in Andalucía

With the summer holidays fast approaching, you’re running out of time to book a sunshine holiday for your family.

You’ll also need to allow some time to choose your destination, as there are a number of popular and family-friendly destinations throughout the Mediterranean. Spain is particularly revered, thanks to its ease of access and the availability of affordable accommodation through outlets like Villa Plus.

Personally, I’m a big fan of Andalucía, which is a beautiful autonomous region in the south of Spain. There’s plenty of family activities to keep you busy here, whilst the sun and scenery also appeal to those who like a traditional summer holiday. Here are some of the most exciting things to do:

Visit the Isla Magica in Sevilla

The Isla Magica is a New World-themed amusement park in the heart of Seville, and one that was built on part of the old Expo ’92 site.

This site had hosted one of the last World’s Fair events to take place in the 20th century, as an estimated 41 million people visited the town in a little over six months.

Aside from its unique heritage, this site also boasts a number of thrilling rides and high-octane water adventures for people of all ages.

For slightly older kids and adults, there’s also a new 3D mapping show. This transforms objects and irregular shapes into a display surface for video projection, and it certainly adds a unique dimension to any holiday experience.

Go to the BioPark in Fuengirola

Which kid doesn’t want to see mighty and wild beasts in the flesh? This is something that should appeal to adults too, and in this respect a trip to the famous BioPark in Fuengirola will provide fun for the whole family.

At the BioPark, you can also see some of the region’s most fascinating species in the highly original setting of iconic buildings, with gorillas, orangutans, leopards, tigers and even Pygmy hippopotamus’ all well-represented.

You can even see meerkats at this venue, and this will provide a real thrill for younger children with a sense of adventure.

As if this wasn’t enough, you can also visit the BioPark at night, when the venue takes on an even more thrilling and ethereal quality.

Check out the Selwo Marina in Benaldamena

On a similar note, we’d also recommend that your family visits the Selwo Marina in Benaldamena during its trip to Andalucía.

This marina is home to all of the features you’d expect from an aquarium, whilst there also a handful of Amazonian attractions to engage visitors.

Here, you and your kids can swim with the sea lions and encounter penguins at close range. At the same time, you can also swim with the region’s dolphins, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for people of all ages.

This makes for the ultimate day trip in Andalucía, and one that will help you to create some truly incredible memories with your family.
