Review: Preparing for Summer Travel with Sea-Bands

Travel sickness is a hideous, hideous thing and if you have a small person who suffers we have the perfect solution for you today.  Indeed, also if you suffer yourself or know anyone else who does.  This solution is a simple band you wear on your wrist, providing a natural, effective, side effect-free solution to motion sickness.

I first tried Sea-Band acupressure wrist bands nearly twenty years ago when travelling in Thailand.  Having suffered with horrendous travel sickness as a child, it had abated largely in cars (so long as I sat at the front and stared out of the window!), but was still a problem on boats.  With the prospect of island-hopping around Thailand, I was desperate to try anything, and much to my relief they worked immediately.

These clever little wristbands contain a small pressure dot which when aligned on the correct part of the wrist prevents nausea.  I have now used them successfully for nearly two decades travelling on sea and land and in air, in coaches from Exeter to London (previously a no go for me), throughout pregnancy nausea, including hyperemesis gravidarum, and Labyrinthitis, and I have found them incredibly effective every time.

With SPD which Lara and I both have, the workings of the inner ear are out of tune and we are more prone to motion sickness and other issues with balance.  Poor Lara unfortunately has travel sickness as bad as I did, and needs to wear her Sea-Bands for every car and train journey, but they work every time.  Woe betide us if we forget them, we did once on the way to my mum's and it was not pretty.  We found the first pharmacy we could and bought another pair, now we have them everywhere so as never to be caught out again!

For natural relief from nausea with no side effects Sea-Bands are a must have for any family getaway, the drug-free solution to travel sickness and all types of nausea.  We love how handy they are to tuck in a bag, pocket, purse or glove box, that they're discreet and very effective, as well as being washable so they can be re-used again and again.  Best of all, they are effective within 5 minutes, even if nausea has already started.

Available in both adult and child sizes, Sea-Bands are acupressure knitted wrist bands that are clinically proven to relieve motion sickness and morning sickness.  They can also help with post-operative and chemotherapy-induced nausea.  Sea-Bands are available from all major retailers and online, priced £8.59 a pair.

Whatever kind of family you are when you travel, from military planner to chillaxer, find out in this fun quiz from Sea-Band.  A shocking quarter of people surveyed see family holidays primarily as a photograph and selfie-taking opportunity!

No matter what your family's holiday style, travelling can present challenges, from the kids bickering in the back of the car, to delayed flights and missed connections, but with Sea-Bands travel sickness doesn't need to be one of them.  And you can keep the kids busy on their travels with the fun new Happy Holiday Activity booklet from Sea-Band.  Packed full of activities for kids of all ages, with colouring, fun facts, word searches and much more, hopefully it will keep stop a few arguments this summer!
