When is the King's Coronation?

It's nearly time to celebrate the coronation of our new king to the throne. On Saturday 6th May, Charles will officially become King Charles III in a lavish state ceremony and parade in London.

With a long Bank Holiday weekend of celebrations, including fun activities and events like the Coronation Big Lunch up and down the country, not to mention the Parade and concert on television!

What Time is the Coronation Service?

The procession will begin shortly before 11am on Saturday 6th May.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will leave Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach and travel the 1.3 miles to Westminster Abbey via the Mall and Whitehall.

The religious ceremony begins at 11am in Westminster Abbey.

The service will end at around 2pm, when the newly crowned King Charles will travel back up the Mall to the Buckingham Palace.

Members of the royal family will then gather on the palace balcony to wave to the crowds and watch the traditional flypast.

How Can I Celebrate the Coronation?

All of the proceedings will be broadcast extensively on BBC1, BBC2 and ITV1. You can also tune in online via BBC iPlayer or ITVX. Major news channels will also broadcast the ceremony and processions overseas.
