Christmas Organisation: 3 Weeks to Go

We're getting there!!

Just three weeks to go and you've already bought, and wrapped, lots of your presents, written most of your cards, cleaned your home, sorted out your decorations and lights, and got started on your Christmas baking.

Impressive!

If you haven't done all that, where have you been?!

Nip back and read our last four Christmas organisation posts and have a quick catch up, we'll wait for you.

This fella's hung up his coat while he waits.  (Hands up everyone who wants this Christmassy hallway!)

Here are this week's tasks to keep us on track...

Festive Baking

Time to up the ante on the baking this week.

Make shortbread, gingerbread, mince pies and spiced biscuits up to the point you would pop them in the oven and put them in the freezer instead.

When needed, just put the oven on, whack 'em in and you'll look like the hostess with the mostest!

Menu Planning

Decide on your menu for as much of the Christmas period as you can muster, and make all associated shopping lists.

I'm doing the whole two weeks from 19th December to 1st January as I find it easier, but if you find that too restrictive, just plan the days you need/want to.

Now is the time to get ahead, so defrost your freezer and then take a morning or afternoon to prep some freezable meals that you can sling in the oven for easy catering when you want to play charades/have a long bath/watch a classic Christmas movie rather than cook.

Check again with any guests that there are no special dietary needs or choices you've missed.

While you're at it, re-confirm days and times with visitors.

Book your online food delivery, and put in your supermarket collection orders, if you haven't already done so.

Keep shopping for non-perishables and drinks and store them in your spare room/conservatory/garage.

Christmas Cards

Post your cards this week.

Buy individual family ones for your husband, children, parents etc now as you will have time to look around and won't have to grab just anything because it will 'do'.

Go Pressie Go

This is the week to break your list, if you haven't already done so.

Following last week's payday, you'll know exactly how much money you have to spend, so get those presents bought/ordered.

If you need inspiration, check out our gift guides.

Post any overseas gifts this week, if you haven't already done so.

Put the Decorations Up

Well if you want to anyway!

You finished all your cleaning last week, so you're good to go, whenever your family's beliefs and traditions dictate.

Get the Christmas music on and go decorate!

Get Organised

Of course, that's what you've been doing all along, but here are a few bits and bobs to get done this week:
  • stock up on repeat prescriptions and any medications
  • confirm dates and plans with everyone else
  • Buy and wrap any teacher gifts and cards, for local businesses and tradespeople
  • check your things to do and events lists and make a plan for the rest of the month, making sure there's some lovely Christmas-ness every day - crafts, baking, events, outings - just go, go Christmas!
