Have You Thought About Creating a More Simple Christmas? #Christmas #holidayseason #calmChristmas #holidayseason2025

The holiday season is fast approaching which may be filling you with a sense of joy, or of dread.

Either way, let me present: A Case for a Simple Christmas.

This is a chance to discover the joy of a simple Christmas with less stress and more meaning.

Learn how to simplify decorations, gifts, and festive plans to create a calm, magical holiday your family will truly remember. Read on...

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the thought of the festive season?

If the idea of endless shopping lists, overstuffed calendars, and glitter-covered chaos makes you sigh instead of sparkle, it might be time for a change.

This year, why not embrace a simple Christmas - slower, calmer and filled with a lot more meaning?

Here’s how we’re paring back the fuss to find the real magic of the holidays.

The Christmases We Remember

When you think back to the Christmases that really stand out, which ones come to mind?

I bet they weren’t the ones with piles of presents or the biggest, flashiest, colour-coordinated tree.

For me, it’s always the years when we had less, but love filled every corner of the house.

I remember making paper chains, drying orange slices, stringing popcorn garlands, and baking the most delicious holiday cookies while Christmas songs played in the background.

We laughed, we sang, and the whole house felt warm and bright with all that family togetherness.

Those simple Christmases involved with fewer gifts and more giggles and they are the ones that live forever in my heart.

Choosing Simple on Purpose

So this year, we’re choosing simplicity on purpose.

No new decorations (tempting as they are!).

Instead, we’ve taken out the boxes, picked our favourites, and passed the rest on.

The result? A calmer, cosier space that still feels completely magical.

And the bonus? Less clutter now means less chaos in January - always a win!

Slowing the Calendar

We’re also lightening our calendar this year.

Instead of rushing from one event to another, we’re choosing just a handful of things we truly love - the carol service, the Christmas market, a few movie nights in with the fire on.

The rest of the time, we’ll be home: baking mince pies, crafting with the girls, or curled up with blankets and mugs of hot chocolate.

Because sometimes, the best memories are made in the quiet moments.

The Four Gift Rule

To keep things thoughtful (and stress-free!), we’re also following the Four Gift Rule this year:

🎁 Something you want
🧦 Something you need
👕 Something to wear
📚 Something to read

Simple, meaningful, and just enough.

If you prefer, you can even make it the Three Gift Rule - one for each of the Wise Men - a lovely little nod to the nativity story.

However you do it, it’s about giving with heart, not habit.

The Gift of Presence

By stripping back the noise and the clutter, we make room for what really matters at Christmas - or any time of year - love, laughter, and time together.

Because Christmas isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence.

So this year, I’m choosing calm over chaos, connection over consumption, and joy over 'just one more thing'.

Will you join me?

Let’s make space for a slower, simpler, more meaningful Christmas - the kind our children will always remember.

It's a little early, but Merry Christmas, mamas! 🎄✨

Do you try to simplify Christmas, or do you love going all out? I’d love to hear how you celebrate!

So you can come back to it when the glitter and wrapping paper start taking over. 😉
