The Best 3 Essential Oils For Household Cleaning

One of the most common uses for essential oils in our house is to make great natural cleaners. There are hundreds of cleansers you can make with essential oils, but these are the three we use most often.  They are versatile and great for multiple uses so if you want to move over to chemical-free cleaning you'll want to get these oils and keep them on hand at all times.

Best Essential Oils For Household Cleaners

Lemon Essential Oil

While lemon essential oil has antiseptic properties, I love it for the fresh clean scent it has.  Lemon scented cleaning solutions are always my favorite since they leave the house smelling fresh and clean.

This is a two for one in my book: lemon essential oil helps you give a fresh scent while helping to kill bacteria on surfaces.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil is the best of the best when it comes to natural antibacterial and anti fungal. A few drops of this can clear up many skin conditions, but it is also a great choice when making surface sprays, and cleansers for sanitation purposes.

The smell isn't as pleasant as other oils, but mixed with lemon or lavender it can be a perfect combination to clean your home in a natural way, without tons of chemicals.

Lavender Essential Oil

Not only is lavender essential oil soothing and great for helping your home feel and smell more relaxing, it has great antiseptic properties

It's great for diffusing or adding to your bath, but also excellent for using in shower and bath cleansers, surface cleansers and spray disinfectants.

To make up your favorite homemade household cleaners, you can use things like vinegar, witch hazel or rubbing alcohol as a base for your essential oils for sprays and sanitizer solutions.

Or mix a few drops off essential oil with baking soda to create an abrasive scrub for tiles, wash basins and counter tops.

These are what I consider the best essential oils for household cleaners. Not only can you keep your family healthy, but your home will smell amazing without tons of harsh chemicals to worry about.

You could also try these other essential oils which have antibacterial properties:

  • Lemongrass
  • Thyme
  • Eucalyptus
  • Pine
  • Grapefruit
