Prezzo Northumberland Avenue Review

The girls and I had dinner at the newly-opened Prezzo on Northumberland Avenue yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

If you're looking for a delicious meal in a great location, or for pre or post-theatre dinner, this is a great place to head.

Read on to find out what we ate and what we thought...

The restaurant is newly opened with stylish decor but still has the warm, modern feel you expect from Prezzo.

With clean lines, comfortable seating, and a relaxed atmosphere that works just as well for a pre-theatre meal as it does for a leisurely dinner.

Even though this area just off Trafalgar Square can be hectic, the staff manage to keep the mood calm and welcoming.

We had booked a table outside but arrived in pouring rain, and the staff quickly found us a great table indoors and were happy to turn down the music to meet our SEN needs.

Fellow guests included theatre-goers, shoppers and tourists in this busy part of London.

Drinks arrived quickly, along with some bread and olives as we perused the menu.

Service was attentive without being intrusive.

We were seated quickly, drinks and nibbles arrived right away, and despite the restaurant being fairly busy, our server checked in at good intervals and kept things humming along smoothly.

For starters, we shared a selection including the Crispy Mozzarella Bites, Garlic Bread, Arancini Balls and Bruschetta.

The starters arrived quickly and were beautifully presented with great portion sizes, not too big or small.

All were delicious, but the Arancini Balls made a particular impression on Sophia and Tatiana.

Our selection of main courses included a wonderfully spicy Rigatoni Arrabbiata with great depth of flavour in the fresh sauce, and the piping hot Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni straight from the oven.

Both arrived hot and well-seasoned, proper hearty comfort food, perfect for a cold rainy evening.

Sophia had the Vegetarian Burger whcih she liked, although she wasn't keen on the vegan bacon on top.

Lara ordered the Margherita which was rustic looking and well made, with a delicious tomato sauce base.

The portion sizes for all dishes were generous without feeling heavy, all beautifully cooked and full of flavour.

All the desserts on the menu sounded delicious and none of us could decide what to have, so we ordered a few to share.

Spoons at the ready we dug into Tiramisu, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake, Sicilian Lemon Meringue Pie and Chocolate Cookie Dough.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding was the crowd favourite, being rich and not overly sweet. The butterscotch sauce was delicious!

Overall, Prezzo on Northumberland Avenue delivered exactly what we were hoping for: a friendly, unpretentious dinner with good delicious Italian food, good value, and a team that knows how to make guests feel looked after.

It's a great choice if you’re in the area for theatre, sightseeing, or just want an easy, enjoyable meal in a great central London location with family or friends.
