How to Make The Very Hungry Caterpillar Pom Pom Craft

Supplies

Here are all the materials you'll need:

Craft glue
Pencil
Scissors

Instructions

1. Print out The Very Hungry Caterpillar PDF template on green colored cardstock paper.

Cutt out the wiggly caterpillar base shape and the leaf shape.

If you prefer, you could trace the pattern onto green cardstock or craft paper then cut out.

2. Cut out a small round shape from a piece of black paper or card and 2 long and thin teardrop patterns from purple paper or cardstock.

3. Stick two googly eyes onto a large red pompom. Add the small black circle below the eyes on the red pompom to form the caterpillar's mouth.

Then glue the 2 purple teardrop shapes onto the top side of the red pompom, above the googly eyes, to make the caterpillar's antennae.

4. Attach the red pompom head to one end of the green cardstock cutout.

5. Using the glue, add the green pom poms to the green cardstock shape one at a time.

Fill the entire green caterpillar shape with green pompoms.

For more interest, use 2 or 3 different shades of green pompoms.

6. Attach the pom pom caterpillar to a popsicle or craft stick to complete your The Very Hungry Caterpillar puppet craft.

Your child can now play with the caterpillar pom pom puppet and retell the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar!
