If you have a preschooler, this Caterpillar Paper Plate is an awesome craft to make!

It's a fun way to be visually creative with the kids, but also work on counting and colour identification as well.

When it comes to a fun weekend activity or a great way to teach your child independence when it comes to crafting, this simple paper plate craft might be just what you need.

Caterpillar Paper Plate

There's no denying that caterpillars are cute. But when you get to use multi-coloured pom poms to give them extra colour, they're really really adorable!

And I'm certain that your kids are going to think so as well. (Anyone else got kids who are totally obsessed with pom poms?!)

They'll love being able to make something adorable like this caterpillar that they can show off to all their family and friends.

There are so many ways that you can use this caterpillar activity!

One idea is to let them create it as is and just have some imagination time with it, using it to play with or display on the fridge.

But besides that simple option, why not take advantage and use it as a learning lesson as well?

How to Make this Fun Craft a Learning Activity

Have them count the pom poms and figure out how many they're going to add or take away.

Take this time to work on simple addition and subtraction in a way that they'll be interested and engaged.

And last but not least, work on their colours as well.

Have them say the colour of the pom poms as they add them and you can even work on some writing skills, too.

You could also use the caterpillar craft as part of a unit study on caterpillars and butterflies.

This caterpillar craft is a fun preschool activity that really does offer endless opportunities for creativity and learning.

The kids are going to have so much fun with this!
