Malteser Tiffin Recipe

Looking for the perfect Easter holiday treat?  This is it!  yes, we shouldn't eat this kind of thing every day blah, blah, but as a super chocolatey, super indulgent treat, it's hard to top.  Nice and easy for little people to help with too (just watch the hot water and the chocolate), they'll love making - and eating - this Malteser-filled yumminess.  Let's hope the sun shines so you can take it on a picnic, or just enjoy in the garden before the Easter bunny gets here.

Malteser Tiffin

Ingredients

300g milk chocolate
150g unsalted butter
3 tbsp. golden syrup
125g digestive biscuits
160g Maltesers

For the topping:

300g milk chocolate
40g butter
2 tsp golden syrup

Method

1. Line a brownie or tray bake tin with baking paper.

2. Melt the first lot of chocolate, butter and golden syrup in a large bowl over a pan of boiling water.  The bowl should sit above the water, and not be touching it.

3. Crush the digestives, then stir into the melted chocolate mixture.  Remove from the heat and gently stir most (100g) of the Maltesers through.

4. Tip the mixture into the prepared tin and flatten with the back of a wooden spoon.  Spread the remaining Maltesers out on top.

5. Melt the chocolate, butter and golden syrup for the topping.  When melted and combined, spread the topping mixture over the first layer.  Spread evenly, then refrigerate until set.

Indulgent but delicious!
