Apple Nachos Recipe for a Healthy Kids Snack {with nut free alternative}

If your children are anything like ours they spend what seems like the entire day seeking out the next snack!  For constantly hungry tummies finding something healthy that you can leave out for them to graze on is essential.  This super easy snack will be a huge hit with your kids.

This apple nachos snack is easy to prepare, tasty, great for picking at, and can be left out on the table for kids to come and grab as they please.  It's great for family movie night, as a packable snack when school returns, or even for parties too.

This quick and easy snack is perfect for kids of all ages.  Older children can even assemble it themselves.

If nut allergy is an issue, use this yummy sunflower seed spread in place of the peanut butter.  Or you could use Greek yogurt or vanilla yogurt to drizzle instead.

You can use any type of apple, although our girls prefer Gala or Granny Smith with this.

This recipe uses one apple and makes enough for one or two little ones.  Simply adjust the quantities according to how many children you have, and how hungry they are!!

Apple Nachos

Serves 1-2

1 apple
1 to 2 tablespoons peanut butter

Other toppings you could add:

Dried fruit (raisins, sultanas, cranberries, cherries, pineapple etc.)
Banana chips

Caramel sauce
Chocolate sauce

1. Core the apple and slice into even slices with a knife or a cutter.

2. Arrange the apple slices on a plate.

3. Warm the peanut butter in a microwave for around 30 seconds.  Or place in a heavy bowl over a saucepan of boiling water for a minute or so.

5. Top with chopped nuts and chocolate as well as any additional toppings you desire before serving.
