Brie and Dark Cherry Filo Pastry Bites Party Food Recipe

Do you need a super easy canape or appetizer for your next Christmas gathering?  If so, you’ll definitely want to give these bite-sized filo pastry cups a try.  The flavours of warm, melted Brie and sweet dark cherries are enhanced with a slight hint of maple syrup.  For a more complex and savoury flavour combination, add some fresh thyme leaves to each cup before baking.


Brie and Dark Cherry Filo Pastry Bites

Makes 30

Ingredients

225g / 8 oz. Brie, rind removed and cut into 30 small cubes
170g / 6 oz. frozen dark cherries, thawed and cut into small pieces, reserve juice
3 tbsp real maple syrup
30 frozen filo pastry (phyllo) cups

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 180C / 350F.

2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.  Place filo cups on baking sheet and add one piece of Brie to each cup.

3. Top up each cup with an equal amount of chopped cherries and reserved juice.

4. Drizzle a little maple syrup over each cup and place in preheated oven for 7 – 9 minutes, or until the Brie is completely melted. While baking, make sure the filo pastry does not burn.

5. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
